WHAT IS SANDAL & STAFF?

It was in 1999 that psalm 84 vs 5 was quickened to me with the words” blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.” It was then I knew I had to embark on a series of journeys which have since taken me all over the U.K. and abroad. I have learned numerous lessons about my journey with God and He has opened many doors for me to help and encourage individuals and churches in their journey, hence the supportive symbols of the sandal and staff.

One essential lesson I learned was the need to have a nomadic spirit and therefore be able to embrace change and hardship and thus be different from many who would prefer to stay as they are. This is where one of my biblical heros, Caleb comes in and he is described in Numbers 14 vs 24 as a servant with “ a different spirit”. We can learn important lessons from his life and the challenge that there is always another level to grow into, in our walk with God.

WHAT DOES SANDAL & STAFF DO?

To work alongside individuals and churches in understanding the requirements for a long and exciting pilgrimage with God, through workshops, seminars and prayer ministry and alerting them to the many subtle signs the Lord puts our way. Any subject can be covered but I have found that a person or church`s spirit needs to be refreshed and a sense of discovery encouraged to build a good foundation for the type of teaching they will receive, whatever the subject.

WHAT EXACTLY DOES SANDAL & STAFF OFFER?

You will see from the website pages that I offer teaching and preaching on c.d. and dvd, written courses, jewish weddings, jewish feasts, themed evenings, art & craft, church consultancy, and other ministries yet to be developed like ½ day or 1 day teaching tours. A weekend presentation can also be put together encompassing some of these ministries.

HOW IS SANDAL & STAFF SUPPORTED?

Through the gifts of churches and individuals on a regular basis and remuneration for specific times of ministry undertaken. Sometimes a set fee is appropriate and this is discussed with the people concerned.

A PROFILE OF MR.PILGRIM ( ALAN MURPHY ).

I grew up in the East End of London and gave my life to Jesus at 16 in 1970. My early years were spent in a Baptist Church and I was involved with youth work, preaching, visiting and became a leader at 21. I felt the call of God on my life for full time ministry and in 1987, became pastor of Wilmington Christian Fellowship, in Dartford, Kent, a non- denominational church, in membership with the Evangelical Alliance. Since then this has grown to 6 churches, known as Harbour Ministries, where I have been the Senior Pastor of the work.

During this time God has used me in church planting and training and gradually has extended my borders to include ministry overseas. It is to this end that Harbour Ministries have released me from this role to minister to churches in the U.K. and abroad, wherever there are open doors.

I am still a part of Harbour Ministries and regularly minister in that group of churches and often meet with a number of other full time ministers. I am on the international advisory board of Christ For India and also serve as a trustee of Shalom Place Ltd, a christian private school for autistic children.

I am married with 4 grown up children and currently studying for a diploma in biblical Hebrew.

I think that gives you a little background as to who you are dealing with and I am happy to provide further details or you can contact the following people for their assessment of who I am!
